The Talkative Wife

A letter extant though never delivered,
Containing deprecating and obnoxious blither,
Lies on the hand of a poor man deplored,
With slightened lineaments and watery orbs.

Engirdled in pink and silky red lace,
This sly, sealed hoyden brought joy to his face.
Closed in untinctured, immaculate white,
Carried hidden rebuke, and an unfair fight.

  1. I like the comparison and imagery you used to convey it. Excellent work.
